On Wednesday, March 20, Whitsons Culinary Group will begin serving sushi at Middletown High School North.  This will continue every Wednesday for the duration of the 2018-19 school year.

Whitsons has partnered with local restaurant Matata Asian Cuisine, located on Route 35 in Middletown, in order to make this possible.

The types of rolls offered will be as follows: California Roll, Cucumber and Avocado Roll and Sweet Potato Cucumber Avocado Roll.  The cost will be $6.50 per roll. Each roll will be served with bottled water, soy sauce, wasabi and ginger.

Students are excited for this unexpected change.

When asked how she feels about sushi coming to HS North, Samantha Chipman (10) said, “I am ecstatic to have sushi in our cafeteria!  I love sushi, but I am not able to have it that often. Now, I have the opportunity to have it for lunch on whatever Wednesday I choose.”

Nick Bruno (10) stated, “I feel like it is a great addition to the school lunch calendar.”

The Lion’s Roar also spoke to students about the types of rolls offered.  When asked which roll she preferred and why, Emily Schopfer (11) responded, “Cucumber and Avocado sounds best to me because I love cucumber.  I really think sushi will be a fresh, healthy option here.”

Jordana Tomasetti (10) said, “I also prefer the Cucumber and Avocado Roll.  This sounds like a tasty, healthy option.”

Jada Simon (9) said, “I think all of the rolls will be great!  Sushi is going to be a really popular option for lunch!”

So far, all of the feedback about sushi coming to HS North has been positive.  Be sure to get in line early next Wednesday so you don’t miss out on the chance to try something new for lunch!
