The new Chromebooks have proven to be a major technology upgrade over the old Dell laptops. Internet service and quality are light years ahead of the old ones which do not even contain all of their typing keys. Unfortunately there are draw backs for upper class-man students compared to freshman and sophomores. Students cannot access saved files from their previous years or classes. Everything becomes saved on Google Chrome which can be a new innovation for freshman and future students. However I do not think these new Chrome books are a good idea. New students will enter the school with the same reaction seniors did four years ago amazed by the new technology. Although for current students their saved work from other high school assignments becomes inaccessible.

The Google Chromebook is one of the better electronic devices I have seen in school since I was in 6th grade. Throughout Elementary and most of Middle School, laptops computers and overall smart devices were not really a part of the classroom setting, they were in the background. But now, all that has changed, not just in schools, but people are using electronic gadgets, it seems for everything. This is why laptops, such as the Google Chromebook, should be provided for us. We are growing up in a world were new technology is introduced to us daily. The Google Chromebook is one of the newer devices North has provided us with. It works much faster than the old, mini laptops and even some of the schools computers in the library and labs that I have used. It also has all of the handy Google features such as Google Docs which many students use to share projects and other things among teachers and fellow classmates. Overall, the Google Chromebook is much newer and efficient than most of the laptops at North. The only problem is you can’t print from them, but you can save a document on your Google account and print from another computer.

Recently the Journalism II class was introduced to Middletown North’s newest technological advancement, the Chromebook laptops. These new laptops are a nice addition to the school. Well although there is only one cart of them, I believe North should invest in more. With the computer labs being very inconsistent in speed, these laptops have the potential to be very useful. With the speed being up to par and head and shoulders better than the computer labs, North should definitely invest in more of these laptops.
