The Middletown High School North Field Hockey team, led by veteran head coach Tiffany Kenney, has shown grit and determination throughout the first half of the 2025 season. Despite a challenging schedule filled with powerhouse programs, the Lions have battled their way to a 5–6 record heading into the heart of October.
After opening the season with a tough 3–0 loss to Southern, the Lions quickly bounced back with a 2–1 victory over Central Regional. Middletown North has since traded wins and losses, showing flashes of brilliance on both ends of the field. A dominant 10–0 shutout over Monmouth Regional on September 22 highlighted the team’s offensive potential, while recent wins against Red Bank Catholic (4–2) and Matawan (4–0) have boosted team confidence heading into the final stretch of the season.
Leading the charge on offense is senior forward Alexandra Goins, who has tallied an impressive 9 goals and 6 assists, totaling 24 points. Sophomore standout Ireland McCauley has been a key contributor with 7 goals and 2 assists, while junior Livy Williamson has added 8 points of her own. The Sarin sisters, Abigail and Evelyn, have anchored the midfield with steady playmaking and defensive support, combining for 10 points and 3 defensive saves.
On the defensive end, the Lions have relied on their strong junior goalkeeping tandem. Emily Montalto-Zadroga has made 54 saves in eight appearances, while Paige Marrone has added 44 saves in three games. Senior midfielder Brianna Soto continues to be a defensive force, leading the team with 9 defensive saves, showing her commitment on both sides of the field.
The Lions will look to even their record with a busy October schedule that includes road trips to Holmdel (Oct. 8) and Colts Neck (Oct. 17), along with key home matchups against Jackson Township (Oct. 11), Wall (Oct. 13), and St. John Vianney (Oct. 15). Middletown North will close out the month with a doubleheader against Toms River East and Toms River North on October 29.
With strong leadership, balanced scoring, and improving defensive play, the Lions are poised to make noise in the Shore Conference as postseason play approaches.
