The Middletown High School North Varsity Girls Soccer Team, led by Head Coach Dan Kelly (DK), is off to a standout 2025 season, posting an impressive 8–3 overall record and 3–1 mark in Shore Conference B North play. With a balanced mix of veteran leadership and young talent, the Lady Lions have become one of the conference’s most exciting and dynamic squads.
Middletown North opened the season in dominant fashion, cruising past Point Pleasant Beach (6–0) and Toms River North (3–0) before adding key early victories over Freehold Borough (2–1) and Trinity Hall (4–2). After beginning the season 5–0, the Lions faced a midseason test, dropping close matches to Howell (1–0), Barnegat (2–1), and Raritan (4–3). The team responded with strong back-to-back wins against Marlboro (2–1) and Shore (3–2) to regain momentum heading into October.
Offensively, the Lions have displayed balance across all positions. Junior forward Sofia Chaknis leads the team with 7 goals and 2 assists (16 points), while freshman playmaker Charlie Brink has been a breakout star, contributing 4 goals and 6 assists (14 points) in her debut season. Another freshman, Peyton Kulka, has emerged as a key offensive weapon with 4 goals and 7 assists (15 points), showing the future of North soccer is bright.
Veteran leadership has come from seniors Ava Coffey (3G, 1A), Ayva Reid (3G, 2A), and Piper Brink (1G, 2A), all of whom provide experience and composure in tight games. Junior Ava Cordoma and sophomore Grace Lober have added steady midfield play, helping the Lions maintain possession and control tempo.
Defensively, Middletown North has been anchored by strong goalkeeping. Junior Natalie Morford has tallied 32 saves in eight games, while sophomore Emilia Miller has made 27 saves in seven appearances. Senior dual-position standout Loralai Davis has also contributed both as a forward and in net, adding 26 saves in three games along with a goal on offense.
As the Lions prepare for upcoming matchups against Long Branch (Oct. 7), Holmdel (Oct. 9), and crosstown rival Middletown South (Oct. 11), Coach Kelly’s squad looks poised to make a strong push toward postseason play. The regular season will wrap up with an away contest at Manchester Township on October 29.
With solid defense, versatile scoring, and a culture of teamwork, the Lady Lions have their sights set on finishing the season as one of the Shore Conference’s toughest contenders.
