The Middletown High School North Girls Flag Football team stormed into the 2025 season with a statement victory, defeating Henry Hudson by a score of 26-6. Building on a stellar 2024 campaign that ended with a 5-1 record, the Lions are now 1-1 in the early going—and showing no signs of slowing down.

Head Coach Stephen Bush praised his team’s balanced effort on both sides of the ball.

The offense was firing on all cylinders, led by Piper Brink and Ella Oster, who each threw two touchdown passes. Oster also caught a two-point conversion, showcasing her dual-threat capabilities.

On the receiving end, Jade Goworek hauled in two touchdown catches, while Gabby Devino and Ava Reid added scores of their own. Reid, in particular, had a standout performance—making several key catches that set up scoring drives and grabbing a crucial interception on defense.

The defense was equally impressive, swarming to the ball with speed and intensity. Several players recorded flag pulls and pass breakups, keeping Henry Hudson’s offense on its heels throughout the game.

With a mix of veteran leadership and emerging talent, Middletown North looks poised to build on last year’s momentum. The team’s unity, skill, and passion were evident from the first snap to the final whistle.  The Lions have been regarded as one of the top teams in the Shore Conference and will look to continue that trend in 2025.

The Lions return to action next week, looking to notch another win and continue their climb in what promises to be another exciting year for the program.
