As the 2025 softball season approaches, the Middletown High School North Lions, led by seasoned head coach Chris Hoffman, are preparing for another competitive year. Coach Hoffman, who has been at the helm since at least 2017, brings a wealth of experience and a history of success to the program.
The Lions have a storied history, highlighted by their Group 3 State Championship win in 2019. This victory was particularly significant, as it marked the program’s first state title after previous near-misses in 1989 and 1992.
In recent years, the team has continued to demonstrate resilience and growth. In the 2024 season, the Lions secured the fourth seed in the Shore Conference Tournament. Despite a narrow 1-0 loss to Freehold Township that ended a seven-game winning streak, the team showcased its potential and determination.
This year’s Varsity Softball team brings a seasoned and talented roster, with an impressive senior class leading the charge. Seniors like Gianna Arciprete, Madilynn Boyce, and Shannon Jaworsky provide leadership both on and off the field, having honed their skills through years of experience. Players like Hailey Keiser and Kylee Keiser bring a competitive edge and versatility to the team, making them key contributors in various positions.

Adrianna Lisotto, Jaelyn McLean, and Julie Sickler further bolster the senior core with their exceptional fielding and batting abilities, making them reliable playmakers. Natalie Trezza, another standout senior, adds depth to the lineup, while Brianna Soto rounds out the junior leadership group with her consistent performance and strong presence on the field.
A mix of younger talent and senior experience rounds out the team. Julie Frontera, Deana Coberg, Grace English, and Hailey Plath all bring energy and skill to the roster, showing potential for big plays and rapid growth as the season progresses. Isabelle Mattison and Aubrey Borchers provide fresh depth to the squad, while Abigail Esposito has the potential to make an immediate impact.
Together, this dynamic team is poised for success, with a perfect balance of experienced seniors and promising underclassmen. With leadership, chemistry, and raw talent, they look to make a significant run this season.
The Lions are set to begin their 2025 campaign with an away game against Red Bank Catholic High School on Monday, March 31, at 3:45 PM. This matchup will provide an early test for the team’s preparedness and set the tone for the season ahead.
Under Coach Hoffman’s guidance, the team emphasizes not only skill development but also fostering a supportive and cohesive environment. As the season unfolds, the Middletown North community eagerly anticipates cheering on the Lions and witnessing the growth and achievements of the team under Coach Hoffman’s leadership.
