Middletown High School North’s baseball team made an unforgettable statement in their 2025 season opener with a commanding 9-0 victory over Glen Ridge, thanks to an impressive no-hitter performance by Seamus McCabe and Ryan Clark.
The game, held on March 29, 2025, saw the Lions’ pitchers dominate the mound, with McCabe (the winning pitcher) and Clark combining for a stellar 7-inning performance that left Glen Ridge without a single hit. The pair allowed no runs, no earned runs, and only three walks while striking out ten batters.
Seamus McCabe, who pitched the first three innings took over in the 4th inning, started the no-hitter, allowing only 4 walks and striking out five. He threw 40 pitches in his 4 innings of work, maintaining a perfect level of control and closing out the game with ease.
Ryan Clark, who took over in the fourth inning, was nothing short of spectacular. He threw 52 pitches, allowing no hits, walking three, and striking out five. His command on the mound was impressive, keeping Glen Ridge’s hitters off balance all night long. McCabe and Clark were in sync the whole game, establishing their presence and allowing the Lions offense to find their rhythm throughout the game.
While the pitching staff handled the mound, the Lions’ offense came alive, scoring 9 runs to ensure the game was well out of reach. Middletown North’s offense was led by key hitters who capitalized on Glen Ridge’s pitching mistakes and provided more than enough run support.
Danny Sigler led the charge, going a perfect 3-for-3 with 3 runs and an RBI, showcasing his dominance at the plate with a 1.000 slugging percentage. Aldo Casale also had a strong showing, going 1-for-2 with an RBI. Michael Hallard, despite just one hit, contributed 2 runs and walked once. Even in limited at-bats, Gabe Ahlemeyer and Louis Romeo made their presence felt, with Ahlemeyer driving in two RBIs despite not registering a hit.
With this dominant win, the Middletown North Lions have made it clear that they’re a force to be reckoned with this season. Their pitching staff, led by McCabe and Clark, has set a high bar for the rest of the year. As the team looks forward to more challenges, their confidence is sky-high, and their performance has certainly caught the attention of the competition.
The Lions will look to build on this momentum as they continue their seasontraveling to Rahway on April 3, 2025. If the opening day performance is any indication, Middletown North will be a team to watch closely in 2025.
