Middletown High School North’s senior basketball star, Colin Byrne, has earned a spot on the prestigious 3rd Team All-Shore list, as announced by Shore Sports Insider. After a season of impressive performances that turned heads, Byrne’s recognition is a testament to his hard work, resilience, and leadership on the court.
The 2023-24 season began with challenges for the Lions, who struggled in their division and crossover games, finishing 0-10 against some of the Shore Conference’s toughest teams. But rather than let these early setbacks define them, the Middletown North players—including Byrne—used the tough competition to their advantage. This “growing pains” process paid off in a big way as the team rebounded to post an 11-4 record outside the division.
Byrne’s individual growth mirrored that of his team. Throughout the season, the senior guard was an undeniable force, averaging at least 18 points and three assists per game. Only three other players in the Shore Conference—Jayden Hodge, Jaycen Santucci, and Aidan Lunn—were able to match his level of production. Byrne’s ability to score from beyond the arc was especially notable, as he drained 71 three-pointers, ranking third in the entire conference.
His scoring prowess helped lead Middletown North to a remarkable 19-6 record during the 2024-25 campaign, and perhaps most importantly, the Lions claimed their first division championship in 14 years. For Byrne, the team’s success was the culmination of years of hard work and determination, both as an individual and as a leader.
As one of the top players in the Shore Conference, Byrne’s future looks bright, with many college programs taking notice of his standout performances. But for now, he’s focused on finishing his high school career strong, with the satisfaction of knowing that his hard work has finally earned him the recognition he deserves.
Congratulations to Colin Byrne for this outstanding achievement and for being a true leader on and off the court for Middletown North!
