The Middletown High School North Boys Indoor Track & Field Team has been making impressive strides this season under the leadership of Coaches Ray Convey and Randy Kalman. The team has not only earned numerous personal bests but also produced standout performances across multiple events, establishing themselves as a force to be reckoned with.
The team’s success this season is a testament to the athletes’ hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence. Senior Josiah Stepney has been a key contributor, achieving personal records (PRs) in both the 55-meter dash and the 200-meter, with both times ranking in the top 10 all-time for MHSN. His stellar performances have earned him a spot among the team’s elite athletes.
Senior Ethan Kinch also made his mark this season, setting personal bests in the 400-meter and 800-meter events. Similarly, fellow senior Andrew Scalercio has excelled in the distance races, posting PRs in the 3,000-meter and 3,200-meter events.
Field athletes have also been a standout for MHSN, with AJ Beach and Brian Novak showcasing their talents. Novak threw a personal best of 46-4 in the shot put, while Beach cleared 6-0 in the high jump, both placing in the top 10 all-time performances for North.
The success hasn’t been limited to upperclassmen, as newcomers Jovonni Fernandez and Danny Sigler have both made an immediate impact. Both athletes have cracked the top 10 all-time list for North in sprint events, adding fresh energy and talent to the team.
Looking ahead, the team’s top athletes are preparing for the upcoming Group competition. Josiah Stepney, AJ Beach, and Brian Novak have all qualified, hoping to build on an already successful season and take it to the next level.
The team would also like to recognize and celebrate its senior class, which includes: Borchers Tyler, Constance Ben, Dohnert Joseph, Girgus Trade, Guensch Adam, Healy Christopher, Heffner Walter, Kinch Ethan, Koturo Matteo, Pando Aidan, Philogene Kallis, Sampson Jordan, Scalercio Andrew, Stepney Josiah, Thoms Dylan, and Wilson Tristion. Their leadership, work ethic, and dedication to the team have been key to the team’s success this season.
