The Middletown High School North Hockey Team is off to a hot start, as the Lions earned their fourth win in six games to start the 2024-2025 campaign. The Lions have had wins against Middletown South, Manasquan, West Morris and St. John Vianney.
The Lions recent win featured Junior Brendan Costello recording two goals and two assists to lead Middletown North past St. John Vianney 8-4 at Middletown Ice World in Middletown. The two goals by Costello were his fifth and sixth of the young season, giving him a total of 11 points through six games.
St. John Vianney (3-4) made it a 3-2 game in the second period before Middletown North (4-2) scored five unanswered goals to take an 8-2 lead in the third.
Costello has been one of the Lions best offensive contributors, including a strong performance against Manasquan which included im achieving a hat trick (3 goals) to lead Middletown North to a 4-1.
Costello scored one goal in each period for the Lions against the Warriors, while Paul Colantino scored the other goal for Middletown North, Dominiks Marnauza passed for two assists and Alex Chanknis, Landon Hopwood and Michael Fish each had one assist. Goalie John Gato made 42 saves, a percentage of .977 during the impressive victory.
The Lions will head to Wall on Friday December 20, 2024 to take on the Knights and look to earn their fifth win of the season.
