Junior Jack Viola matched a school record by catching three touchdown passes from junior quarterback Owen Robson in Thursday night’s matchup between Middletown High School North and Red Bank Regional High School. Viola’s performance helped Middletown North secure a 33-7 victory over Red Bank Regional and remain undefeated on the season.
Middletown North (6-0) is enjoying its best start since going 11-0 in 1983 and has clinched at least a tie for the Class B North title, boasting a 4-0 record in the division. Freehold Township, which has a bye this week, is currently 3-0 in Class B North. Middletown North can claim the division championship outright with a win against Freehold Township on October 25.
With his three touchdown receptions, Viola has now scored five touchdowns this season. Robson, with his three touchdown passes, has reached a total of 10 for the year. Viola’s three TD receptions tie the school record set by Al Maresca in 1978. The Lions have been putting on a great display of offense and defense throughout the 2024 campaign. They will look for the strong connection between Robson and Viola to continue against Freehold Township.
