On September 17, 2024 the Girl’s Tennis team will be hosting a charity match supporting Suicide Prevention with the 99 Smiles Non-Profit. The Lady Lions will be playing their match against Middletown South at 3:45pm at Tindall Park.
The 99 Smiles organization was established by Fred Walters who unfortunately lost his daughter, Jocelyn Walters, to suicide in 2022. Those who attend the match can donate to the organization for which all the proceeds will go to the 99 Smiles charity. Walters’s established this non-profit to spread awareness for mental health and to stop bullying. Proceeds help organizations and other families surrounding this issue. The Girl’s will put in their best efforts on the court to win this match in the honor of Jocelyn, and the thousands of other victims of Suicide across the nation.
If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, do not hesitate to reach out for help. If you are having thoughts of attempting Suicide, please call the 988 Suicide Crisis Lifeline.
