The Middletown North Baseball team advanced in the 2024 Monmouth County Tournament yesterday with a 3-1 win over the Rumson Fair-Haven Bulldogs.
Middletown North came into the contest ranked as the 10th seed, while Rumson entered as the 19th seed. Both teams are looking to heat up during the final stretch of the baseball season. The Lions entered the contest with a 4-8 record, while Rumson sported a 5-9 record.
Dylan Briggs roped an RBI triple during a three-run third inning for Middletown North to open the scoring for the Lions. Middletown North also relied on a pair of their junior veterans in Gabe Ahlemeyer and Zach Hampton on the mound to a win over the Bulldogs. Ahlemeyer picked up his first win of the 2024 season on the mound and Zach Hampton — who pitched a five-inning complete game Saturday against Monmouth Regional closed it out with a two-inning save.
The Lions will take on Freehold Township today in an A- North Divisional Game home at Rich Veth Field (3:45 pm).
