With the conclusion of the NJSIAA Girls High School Basketball Season, the Middletown High School North Lady Lions were recognized for their strong performance. During the week of January 29-February 4, 2024, the Lions were named the Jersey Mikes Team of the Week.
During that span Head Coach Justin McGhee and his Middletown North squad won three straight games including one against a team ranked in the Shore 16 to be named the Jersey Mikes Girls Basketball Team of the Week for Week 7.
During that stretch, the Lions started by defeateing Old Bridge in a non-conference game 49-42 behind the strong leadership of Senior Madison Marcotte who scored a team-high 11 points and season-high 7 steals in the victory.
Middletown North continued its winning ways by defeating Neptune, who at the time was ranked No. 14 in the Shore Conference. Junior Jayden Yerves scored a career-high 13 points during the Lions defeat of the Scarlet Fliers.
The Lions won their third straight contest by defeating Marlboro in an A- North divisional game by the score of 36-20. Sophomore Danielle Gonzalez scored a game-high 12 points and Marcotte scored 8 points and while dominating the glass with 7 rebounds in the win.
The Middletown North Lady Lions will receive a $150 Gift Card from Jersey Mikes for being named the Week 7 Jersey Mikes Girls Basketball Team of the Week.
