Junior Zachary Hampton led 10-seed Middletown North past 15-seed Monmouth in five innings and into the first round of the MCT in Middletown.

Hampton tallied five innings of one-run ball on the mound for the Lions with seven strikeouts and allowed four hits in the victory. At the plate, Hampton had a double and a triple and drove in two runs for Middletown North (4-7).

Jason Quardt went 3-for-4 at the dish for the Lions with an RBI and two runs scored in the victory. Alipio Figueroa had three RBI during the victory and Aldo Casale had an RBI and a run scored for the Lions.

Evan Booth had a hit and a run scored for Monmouth (7-4) and also allowed five runs over two innings on six hits and one walk with a strikeout.
