The Middletown High School orth Lady Lions captured the 2023 A-North Division Championship with a 6-3 victory over a tough Freehold Township Patriots team on May 17, 2023.  Freshman Brianna Soto had an amazing performance for the Lions receiving the Softball NWO belt after  hitting a three run home run and going 2 for 3 at the plate.

Madilynn Boyce pitched a complete game for Middletown North and struck out 13 while allowing five hits, three earned runs, and two walks to secure the division title. Boyce has been a force in the State of New Jersey and has helped Middletown North (18-5) earn the reputation as one of the toughest teams in the Shore Conference.

The Lions took a 6-1 lead in the top of the fifth before Freehold Township (11-9) brought the score to 6-3 in the bottom half of the fifth inning. This was the Lions first division title since 2019, when they went on to win the NJSIAA Overall State Championship.
