Middletown North Girls Track Captures CJ Group 3 Crown

The Middletown High School North Girls Track program has had an exciting last two weeks.  The Lady Lions captured the Monmouth County Championship first and have followed that performance by winning the 2021 NJSIAA Central Jersey Group III Championship this past weekend.  Middletown North narrowly defeated Mendham 78-77 to earn their third sectional championship in the past five years competitions have been held.

Middletown North saw five gold winning performances featuring two from senior Rett Schnoor in the 100 meter and 200 meter events. Junior Hailey Guerrieri won the 100 meter hurdles, Junior Patricia Walsh won the javelin event and the other was a collobarive effort in the 4×100 four-some featuring Katie Mayhew, Katie Pedersen, Bella Caruso and Rett Schnoor.  The coaching staff featuring Brock Silvestri, Ray Convey, Mara Hussey and Rand Kalman have done an amazing job getting the student athletes ready for this competition and ready to compete in the upcoming Group III Championship as well as the New Jersey Meet of Champions.

According to Head Coach Brock Silvestri “In the last 5 competitive years the girls team has stepped up each and every time at the state sectional championships”.
