NFL Week One Recap
There were a lot of surprises in Week 1 of the NFL season.
After last season’s Super Bowl victory, the Patriots were expected to easily defeat the Chiefs. However the Chiefs had different plans as Kareem Hunt put on one of, if not the, most impressive rookie debut in NFL history as he, in total, racked up 246 yards, which lead the Chiefs to a decisive 42-27 victory.
On Sunday, the Falcons were expected to dominate the Bears, but instead, they ended up just barely escaping with a victory. Leonard Fournette proved to be impressive in his NFL debut as he and a very improved defense led the Jaguars to a 29-7 victory over the Texans. However, not all of the game was good for the Jaguars, considering that on the 3rd play of the game the team’s star wide receiver Allen Robinson suffered a season ending injury.
The first week also marked Marshawn Lynch’s return to the NFL as successful, putting up over a 75 rushing yard rushing performance as his Raiders beat the Titans.
The Colts went in to play the rams without their star quarterback Andrew Luck and got destroyed by the Rams 46-9.
The Ravens were able to shutout the Bengals 20-0 as Terrance West led the way with over 100 rushing yards.
This week also featured the return of Adrian Peterson as he and the Saints went up against his former team. Although that might have seemed to be biggest story of the game, the real story of the game ended up being Vikings wide-receiver Adam Thielen, racking up over 150 receiving yards and leading the Vikings to a 29-19 victory over the Saints.
The Steelers were able to squeak past the Browns, 21-18.
The Panthers beat the 49ers in very easy fashion, 23-3.
The Packers beat the Seahawks in a close game.
Carson Wentz lead the Eagles to a win thanks to his long bomb connections to Nelson Agholor and Zach Ertz.
The Chargers were losing in the game against the Broncos, got two TD’s and had a chance to tie the game, but missed the field goal, giving Denver a 24-21 win.
The Giants completely failed to impress as they were shut down by the Cowboys defense, with Ezekiel Elliott dominating on the offensive side for the Cowboys as they won 19-3.
Even more of a disappointment was the fact that the Giants’s free agent signing Brendan Marshall was only able to get one reception, and Odell Beckham Jr. did not even play.
