Middletown North Institutes Math National Honor Society
Led by math teachers Mrs. Kara Perry and Mrs. Stephanie DiBari, Middletown North launched the Math National Honor Society with the start of the 2018-19 school year. The new program is dedicated to students in the school who have an interest in the subject and may like to pursue a career in the field.
Students must have an overall GPA of at least 3.5, 3.0 specifically in an advanced math class, and are required to participate in the Math Team to be part of the program. The members consist of primarily juniors and seniors who take Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus and Statistics. Tutoring underclassmen with the help of the Guidance Office is one of the many tasks performed by the group.
A brief interest meeting was held last week and there will be an induction ceremony for new members on October 23.
Mrs. Perry encourages students interested in participating to keep their grades up and to join the program. She hopes for students getting involved to attend math competitions, earn scholarships, and gain admission into a math college program. Here’s to a great start for Mu Alpha Theta!
