Three students from Middletown High School North—Christian Balleto, Santiago Bermudez, and Gavin Plath—have been selected to attend the highly respected New Jersey Boys State program, an immersive leadership experience that gives students a firsthand look at how government operates.

New Jersey Boys State is an inspiring leadership program where high school students learn how government works by establishing and overseeing their own mock state. Through collaboration, debate, and elections, participants gain a deeper understanding of the democratic process while building confidence, leadership skills, and civic knowledge. The program also encourages students to strengthen their commitment to serving their communities.

Delegates are chosen through an extensive and competitive interview process. Candidates participate in discussions about their past achievements, leadership experiences, and future aspirations, demonstrating both their dedication and potential as future leaders.

Balleto, Bermudez, and Plath were selected from a pool of applicants for this prestigious opportunity. Their selection reflects not only their accomplishments but also their interest in civic engagement and public service.

During the program, delegates will take part in creating and managing a functioning mock government, running for office, debating legislation, and collaborating with peers from across the state. The experience provides participants with a unique opportunity to develop leadership abilities while gaining valuable insight into the workings of government.
