MIDDLETOWN – Academic excellence at Middletown High School North is shining brightly this year, as four students have been recognized among the nation’s top scholars. Seniors Dominick Nagle, Gary Albero, Mark Conway, and Monisha Chalamalasetty have each been named National Merit Scholars, one of the most prestigious academic honors awarded to high school students in the United States.
The National Merit Scholarship Program, which began in 1955, recognizes students who demonstrate outstanding performance on the PSAT/NMSQT and in their overall academic record. Out of approximately 1.3 million students who enter the competition each year, only about 7,500 are ultimately selected as National Merit Scholars.
Middletown High School North Principal Matt Ferri praised the students for their dedication and commitment to excellence. “Congratulations to our Four Commended National Merit Scholars! This is an amazing accomplishment and we at Middletown North are very proud of you” said Ferri.
All four honorees have distinguished themselves in both academics and extracurricular involvement at Middletown North. Their recognition not only highlights their personal achievements but also brings great pride to the school community.
As National Merit Scholars, Nagle, Albero, Conway, and Chalamalasetty will be eligible for scholarship opportunities and will carry the distinction of being among the most accomplished high school students in the country.
Middletown High School North celebrates their success as an inspiration to fellow classmates and a testament to the school’s tradition of academic excellence.
