Ryan Miller, President of Middletown High School North, was recently honored with the prestigious Dwight D. Eisenhower Leadership Award. Selected during his junior year by the USMA Field Force and The West Point Society of New Jersey, Ryan has demonstrated exceptional leadership throughout his time at Middletown High School North. In fact, he was chosen as the student body president for the 2023-2024 school year and continues to serve in that role.
Ryan’s leadership will continue after high school as he will look to join the United States Coast Guard Academy. “I plan to study mathematics, specifically Operations Research & Data Analytics. My ultimate goal is to become a leader of character and proudly serve our nation as an officer” said Miller.
The Dwight D. Eisenhower Leadership Award is presented by the USMA Field Force and The West Point Society of New Jersey to outstanding high school juniors across the state who excel in academics, athletics, community service, leadership, and moral character. The award also recognizes those who embody the values of national service, as exemplified by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Dwight D. “Ike” Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States, served from 1953 to 1961. Before his presidency, he was a five-star General in the U.S. Army and Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force during World War II.
“Receiving the Dwight D. Eisenhower Award is truly an honor, and I am incredibly grateful to be named the recipient. Eisenhower’s legacy as both a leader and soldier is very inspiring, and motivates me even further to pursue a career serving and giving back to our country. His high standard of leadership is admirable, and I will strive to exemplify this leadership for the betterment of our community each day” Miller shared.
As stated on the West Point Field Force website, each award recipient will receive a Certificate of Recognition for their outstanding accomplishments, and their name will be displayed on a perpetual plaque at their school.
The award is formally presented at the annual Award Recognition Day Ceremony at the United States Military Academy at West Point, typically held in April. Afterward, a light luncheon is served, followed by a campus tour. If the recipient is unable to attend the ceremony, arrangements can be made for the award to be presented during the school’s own awards ceremony.
“Receiving this award has reminded me to continue striving to make a difference in our community. Courage, resilience, and commitment to service will continue to be core values that I strive to uphold”.
Congratulations Ryan Miller. You are an amazing individual and you are well-deserving of this recognition!
