Middletown North Recognizes Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society Inductees

The Middletown High School North Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society hosted their annual induction ceremony on Wednesday night at the MHSN Auditorium. According to the Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society website (https://www.socialstudies.org/rhokappa), Rho Kappa “recognizes excellence in the field of Social Studies. Any accredited public or private high school can apply for a local chapter, through which individuals will be inducted into Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society.”

The Middletown High School North Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society is led by social studies teachers Katherin Harvey and Thomas Ballard. They had to daunting task of accepting and reviewing hundreds of applications that were submitted during the 2021-22 school year. This year’s induction class featured 53 members from the senior and junior class.  The 2022 Middletown North Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society Inductees are:

According to Rho Kappa, the organization was founded in 1921 and the National Council for the Social Studies is the largest professional association in the country devoted solely to social studies education.

NCSS engages and supports educators in strengthening and advocating social studies. With members in all the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and 35 countries, NCSS serves as an umbrella organization for elementary, secondary, and college teachers of history, civics, geography, economics, political science, sociology, psychology, anthropology, and law-related education. The NCSS membership represents K-12 classroom teachers, college and university faculty members, curriculum designers and specialists, social studies supervisors, and leaders in the various disciplines that constitute the social studies.
