The Mental Health Awareness Month of May
May is Mental Health Awareness month; every May is spent trying to spread awareness, educate the public, and end the stigma that surrounds mental illness. This month a new campaign started called Yoga for Hope. Each day of the month of May has a new yoga pose. The campaign was started by a foundation called Hope For The Day, which focuses on suicide prevention and mental health education through self expression platforms to achieve outreach, education, and prevention.
The Yoga for Hope campaign is being run by the lead singer of pop-punk outfit Tonight Alive, Jenna McDougall. For each day in May, McDougdall posts a photo of herself doing that day’s yoga pose. Through this campaign she hopes to end the stigma that surrounds mental illness.
Hope For The Day has teamed up with many different bands from the metal, metalcore, and punk scene. Some of the bands are Neck Deep, Being as an Ocean, Tonight Alive, Hands like Houses, Our Last Night and so many more.
