What Ever Happened to Tim Tebow

Back in 2011, Tim Tebow took the world by storm. He led the Denver Broncos to the playoffs and stunned the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Wild Card Game. Before this, he pulled off many upset and improbable victories, made kneeling down one of the most popular phenomenons the world has ever seen, won a Heisman Trophy, became a polarizing collegiate player and was somehow selected in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Oddly enough, he fell off the map within a year of that postseason win. The casual sports fan may not have any idea as to what he has been up to since he seemingly vanished from the public eye.

To answer that question- yes, our god-loving lefty is alive. He just has not been able to claim a roster spot with three separate NFL teams. The 2012 New York Jets, 2013 New England Patriots and 2015 Philadelphia Eagles all gave him a chance, but he never made the most of his opportunities. He briefly had a stint as an analyst for college football, but still doesn’t have the popularity he once did. People question how a player so popular can be borderline hated by the NFL. Jacksonville Jaguars fans have longed for a successful team and pleaded with their ownership to bring in Tim Tebow in order to sell tickets. Even then, Tebow remained a forgotten man.

What seems to be even more strange is that Tebow seems to want to be a recluse. Finding an advertisement on TV with him in it is difficult in 2015. He rejected an offer to play for an Arena Football Team owned by the group KISS, which seemingly could have boosted his public appeal. He resigned as a broadcaster to pursue his career as an NFL quarterback when many job openings have come up and he has not been called. In 2015 alone, the Cowboys, Colts, Saints and Bears had an injury to their starting quarterback and Tebow did not fill in for the team.
Overall, the Tim Tebow situation is a conundrum. It is appalling how one man can go from hero to zero in a short period of time. He used to be one of, if not, the most popular athlete in sports and was the personification of an underdog. Yet, he seems to be forgotten by the average civilian and avoided by pro football. The media frenzy of having Tim Tebow would sell tickets and possibly jerseys, yet no team has decided to capitalize on this. It is just a peculiar situation the league and Tebow have gotten themselves into.
