The Beautiful Game: Fifa 16 Review
A new soccer season brings gamers, the highest rated sports game franchise EA Sports: Fifa. Fifa has always sold well and surely the sales will be massive for Fifa 16 as well this year.
Fifa 16 has many new features including a new FUT Draft system in their Ultimate Team mode. The FUT draft allows players a chance to play with numerous players that are too expensive to get in the transfer market and play a small tournament with them. If the player wins the draft tournament players receive pack prizes which you can redeem for your own Ultimate Team. Women’s National teams have been added including their own tournament mode for the Women’s World Cup. In classic Manager Mode you can now train up to 5 players a week to bolster up the team’s younger players and turn them into superstars.
The new gameplay of FIfa is fantastic. Past Fifa’s have always been insanely built around players pace (how fast they run), and their ability to do skill moves. If you had a team full of players with high pace and 5 star skills you would more likely than not win the game. However, in Fifa 16, developer EA really tried to make the game feel like an actual soccer game. It is incredibly hard to score and instead of using one guy to go the whole length of the pitch and score you actually have to pass the ball strategically to score. The defenses have been improved to be very smart and anticipate what you the player are trying to do from an attacking point.
All of these new mechanics EA added have really make Fifa 16 feel like an actual game of soccer. Many players do not like this new gameplay style, however, I am a huge fan of the way to play. Going into a game and trying to pick out the team’s weak points and then exploiting them is very fun for me, as a long fan of the Fifa franchise and a fan of soccer. I can see how people can be upset by this new gameplay only really wanting to play a game to do crazy trick shots and score lots of goals.
I give Fifa 16 4.5 out of 5 stars, the game is by far the best sports game I have played this year and overall one the best games of the fall so far. Continue to read The Lions Roar for more video game reviews and check out the rest of the site for all the latest MHSN news.
