Juniors and Seniors were treated to an excellent day of aquatic adventure when the explored the Camden Aquarium last Thursday.
The trips was specifically for Mr. Hoblitzals AP Environmental Science class and Norths Oceanography class. Students arrived at the aquarium around 9:30 and entered around 10:00. They were allowed to walk around the interior for about a half hour before their official tour began.
Following one of the aquariums executive employees, the students went under the aquarium’s main floor and were given a special tour through some of the employees most important workplaces. There, they learned how the facility treated new species of fish that were being introduced to the aquarium, how they treated sick creatures, and how they took care of the millions of gallons of waters on a daily basis.
The students then were given about an hour and a half to explore the aquarium on their own. Many visited the shark tanks, hippo habitat, and at least one of the three touch tanks where they were allowed to touch small sharks, stingrays, and many other small aquatic creatures.
Everyone left the facility around 12:30 and students were back at school around 2:00. Overall, the trip was a huge success and everyone had a great time learning about the life within the worlds oceans.
