Young fashion enthusiasts gathered for Middletown North’s annual fashion show last Thursday, April 23, where students showed off a variety of different styles that suited its young audience.
Tilted “Secret Garden”, the show was divided into two acts, with Spring wear being the main attraction in Act 1 of the show while Prom and formal wear were present in Act 2. Models showed off items from a variety or stores including Francesca’s, Billabong, and Lucki Clover, and Forum Tuxedos. Some students were even able to make their own outfits and pieces that they were able to show off to the audience as well.
Many were impressed and couldn’t even tell the difference between what was being sold in stores and what was made in the fashion classroom just down the hall from the auditorium. One model, Hannah Kish, made a beautiful red dress and was able to walk down the runway to show it off herself.
Open to anyone in the school who was willing to model, the show was originally going to start around 6:00 P.M. but had a slight delay of about five minutes. Models arrived at school around 4:30 P.M., relaxed, got changed into their outfits, and were even treated to a short photo-shoot where they were able to show off their style in front of the camera.
Sabrina White and Jack Estavanik announced the show, giving the audience some insight as to what type of clothing the current model who was walking down the runway was wearing and where it was from (or if it was made right here in Middletown North). Unfortunately, there were some slight delays due to microphone problems and some audience members had trouble hearing the show all the way in the back of the room. These problems were quickly fixed though.
A total of about thirty models participated in the show and all had a great time. However, the show itself wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for Dan Sarafian and many other contributors who have a passion for fashion.
Three years ago, Mr. Sarafian started “The Fashion Club” and put on the first fashion show in years here in Middletown North. Now, the club that he and others started has evolved into the FCCLA and this being his senior year, he had something to say about his third and last Middletown High School North Fashion Show.
“From starting “Fashion Club” my sophomore year and seeing it evolve into FCCLA, the fashion shows have grown better over the years. With the help of local businesses and the endless hours of hard work form the FCCLA and DECA members, the “Secret Garden Fashion Show” is by far the best show that we have put on, and I have hope that it will get even better in the years to come.”
