4 Out of 5 Stars
Over winter break I had the distinct pleasure of seeing my favorite movie franchise come to an end. The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies, was easily the best movie in The Hobbit Trilogy directed by Peter Jackson.Within the first five minutes of the movie you witness Laketown as it gets brutally destroyed by the dragon Smaug.
Afterwards the destruction my favorite part of the movie takes place. The WHite Council, consisting of Galadriel, Elrond, and Saurmon, go to save the other member of the council Gandalf from Dol Guldur, the Necromancer’s lair. In these moments the council realizes the Necromancer is really Sauron and that he has reassembled the Nazgul. A battle begins between the nine Nazgul and Saurmon and Elrond, While this battle is occurring Galadriel begins to cast Sauron out of Dol Guldur. This scene in the movie made me scream during viewing the movie, Jackson captured the feel of the moment terrifically and it by far became my favorite scene in the movie.
Something that this movie showcases for the first time in any Tolkien movie is the war tactics of Dwarves. When Thorin’s cousin, Dain, arrives at the battle he brings all the dwarves from the iron hills. Jackson showed us the first for the first time they’re armor and tatic during battle.
The ending of the movie is really cool in the way that Jackson tied this movie to the start of The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring.
Overall I really enjoyed seeing this film and would recommend anyone to who likes fantasy or action movies to go see it.
