The French Honors Society ‘adopted’ a family this Christmas as a part of this year’s charity program. The Society was responsible for purchasing clothing and toys for three boys ages 5, 6, and 10 who live in the Middletown Area.
Friday, the family of the three children came to visit the school and receive and give thanks for a few of the gifts while others were smuggled off to the car for Santa to give them on Christmas. A woman who connected Mrs. Barca to the family, but who neglected to disclose her name and relation to the family spoke through teary eyes about the family.
“They are a great family..single, hard-working mom who just needed a little help this year.” The boys exclaimed when they opened their presents with “oohs” and “aahs” and “I’ve always wanted this!” On command they chorused “Thank you” to the French Honors Society before taking a few pictures with the members.
The oldest boy attends Ocean Avenue Elementary School and all three plan to someday go to Middletown High School North. The mother of the three stood watching, smiling and teary-eyed as her sons opened their presents. She thanked the FHS and Mrs. Barca personally before leaving with her children.
