Many young adults throughout Middletown recently went through their last first day of school this past Wednesday, September 3, marking the beginning of the end of their public education and their last year at Middletown North.
For many seniors, this is a moment that has been on their minds ever since they set foot within North, for others, it is the beginning of their last year where they have had some of the most memorable times of their lives.
Sydney Feimer, an aspiring veterinarian, had some comments regarding this sad, yet upcoming truth.
“It’s weird being the oldest students in the school. It feels like just yesterday I was roaming around the halls not knowing where anything was, and now I’m here, almost an adult and ready to go to college.”
While some unsure about how they feel regarding this upcoming change, many are excited beyond measure.
“I’m just excited to finally be the oldest in the school.” Said Nick O’ Friel. “It’s fun not having to take hard classes and worry about them like I did last year.”
In addition to relaxing for a majority of the year regarding schoolwork, seniors will also be treated to a variety of senior events such as the annual senior picnic and of course, graduation. Mark Knoll, star varsity swimmer, commented on these events.
“I’m looking forward to most of the things the school has planned for us later this year, however, I’m looking forward to graduation the most.”
While the year has only begun, many good times, scary times, and challenges lay ahead for the senior class of 2015, as they prepare to leave the school that has watched them grow from children to young adults.
