The juniors of North gathered at Jacques this past Friday for their junior prom. From all the tweets and pictures that were on everyone’s timelines, it was clear that this event was much anticipated. As with most school dances, everyone was cautious to get on the dance floor at first, lingering on the sides and taking last minute pictures with friends they perhaps had not seen yet. But as the DJ invited all the couples to the dance floor for a first dance, the event took off.
The service at Jacques was quick and efficient, first bringing out appetizers such as mozzarella sticks, fried ravioli, and barbeque wings. Students did not get hungry nor thirsty easily. The Gatsby themed decorations added a classic feel to the dance, making students feel transported to a different time of swing and parties.
The DJ seemed much better than the one who was at junior prom last year. He played songs and bits of songs that everyone knew and loved. A favorite was the classic “Single Ladies”, there were very few who did not dance due to him and even less sat there on their phones (the only ones who sat out were those who were actually injured from dancing too hard).
The night ended with a crowd of content and giddy juniors, excited for whatever plans they may have had afterwards, but saddened that their night of in the 20’s was over. Most of the comments on the way out were, as many teenagers talk about, discussions about what came next. But the one comment that stuck out the most was “I wish I could live this night over and over.”
