Over one hundred people came out to see Middletown North’s annual Spring concert last Thursday, May 22 and were blown away by the amount of hard work, effort, and musical talent that was put into the performance.
The evening began around 6:45 when parents, family members, and supporters of the musical arts found their seats in the North auditorium. The room was buzzing with excitement and many people began looking through their concert playlist books to see what songs would be played by the band that evening.
Around 7:00 o’ clock, the band walked out onto the stage and took their seats. Mrs. Lyon, the band conductor and also the band director for the marching band at Middletown North made a quick announcement thanking everyone for coming and supporting the musical arts. Following this, the show began.
All together, the band played five songs including a mash-up of all of the songs within the film “The Wizard of Oz”. This piece proved to be a crowd favorite, as the audience applauded continuously following the final note of the piece.
Between each song, different sections of the band went to the left side of the stage and performed smaller pieces that focused on the different variations in instruments and talent. The crowd loved each and every one of these smaller performances by the percussion, flute, clarinet, brass, and saxophone sections, applauding continuously after each one.
Around 8:00 o’ clock, the band stood up, took their bows, and walked off of the stage. When everybody was back in the band room, the screaming and shouting of joy and accomplishment could be heard from all the way in the auditorium.
Overall, the concert was a success, generating some funds for the school to use and also promoted the musical arts and wonderful talents that many Middletown North students truly possess.
