North’s annual “Mr. North” competition was held on May 8th, 2014 in the auditorium at Middletown North and it included tough competitors, lots of laughter, and even washing a car on the stage. The competition began with a group dance including all the nominees, most of whom were three steps behind the others. From the start, it was clear that it was going to be a tough choice.
Competitors included, Mike Bartels, Ryan Byrd, Guy Rose, Tom Rafaraci, Peter DiAngelo and reigning champion, Casey Tumblety. They wowed judges with their various talents. Mike Bartels performed the complete dance from “Napoleon Dynamite” (which he learned the night before), Ryan Byrd did a variety of tricks including breaking through a piece of wood. Guy Rose serenaded the audience with his rendition of “In Summer”. Tom Rafaraci whisked card tricks into the air, landing them in North’s balcony. Peter DiAngelo melted Dr. Cartier’s ear with a lip synch to “Hero”. And Casey Tumblety wowed the audience with his impressive Dance Dance Revolution skills.
Overall, the competition was fierce and tough. However, it was clear to the judges that Casey Tumblety was the most dedicated and passionate and therefore he won the competition for the second year.
