On Friday, the Library Media Center was packed with senior citizens chatting and eating Taliercio’s off paper plates and white table cloths. North’s student play, The Wizard of Oz, preformed a matinee for visiting members of local senior centers and elementary students.
“[The film] came out 75 years ago,” senior citizen Eillen Sacca, said smiling. “It seemed like only yesterday!” Her friends nodded agreement.
“The plays,” they had just watched South’s play last week, “are both amazing. I would absolutely recommend it.”
Sacca went on to say her favorite aspect was watching a story she knew so well with children just experiencing it for the first time. “I enjoyed the children’s reactions. When they couldn’t see something they would perk up in their seats to get a better view.”
“My other favorite part was the witch melting. It was amazing,” said Sacca.
The ladies greatly enjoyed by the performance of Juliet Gallagher, playing the lead role of Dorothy. “She gets better every year,” one lady said.
The North Spring Production of The Wizard of Oz opens tonight, Friday April 4th at 7pm with repeat performances Saturday at 10am and 7pm in the North auditorium.
