Middletown North faced its first ever snow day of the 2013-2014 school year this past Tuesday when the tri-state area was hit with a surprising storm that lasted the entire day.
Students awoke early on Tuesday morning, receiving a call from the Middletown Board of Education stating that there would be no classes because of the impending storm. Overjoyed, they returned to their beds to catch up on some sleep.
Many students awoke later in the day to a winter wonderland. The ground was covered in snow as early as nine o’ clock in the morning, continuing to fall down as the day went on.
With an entire day off from the pressures of school, many students spent the day enjoying the weather by building snowmen or spending time with friends in the snow. Others relaxed at home, cozy and warm by the fireplace as they watched the snowflakes fall.
With weather like this affecting the entire country, many are afraid that this winter could be one of the worst yet since temperatures are already below freezing in other states.
The first snowfall of the year brought excitement and joy for many at the fact that there was no school. With Winter just arriving, additional snowstorms may be on their way for Middletown within the coming weeks.
