North 6, South 43
It was a beautiful, cold November evening at Middletown South as students were tailgating in the parking lot and a full house at “The Swamp”, Souths Football Field, for the crosstown rivals to play in the annual Thanksgiving football game.
For both teams, this was the final game of the season and for the seniors, their high school careers as football players. The game did not go well for Middletown North (3-7) as they were blown out by Middletown South (5-5), 43-6. This is the 13th straight time South has beaten North at the annual Thanksgiving game and South improves their series lead to 26-11-1.
North was Huomaa, etta kolmen kortin pokeri saannot maaraavat, etta jakaja haviaa automaattisesti , mikali hanella ei ole vahintaan akkahai -katta. unable to do anything on offense as they were held to 0 points throughout the first half of the game, eventually scoring on a 63-yard touchdown pass from freshman quarterback Donald Glenn to junior Troy Thompson in the third quarter for the Lions only score of the game. Followed by a missed extra point from kicker Nick Banta.
On the South side of the ball, senior running back Jeremy Concepcion won offensive MVP (Most Valuable Player) honors after rushing for 165 yards and 3 touchdowns on 41 attempts. Also junior Nolan Pereless won defensive MVP honors with 2 interceptions in the game. Senior quarterback Kyle Brey also contributed with a 15-yard touchdown run and a 63-yard touchdown pass to senior wideout Andrew Wisialko. To cap it all off, Pat Crowe picked off Donald Glenn for a 50-yard return for a touchdown.
This final game of the Lions season proved to be a difficult one. The time and effort put in by the players and coaches definitely improved as the season went on. Next year’s season will prove to be even more interesting as the Lions continue their hard work and dedication to Middletown football.
