Middletown North (3-6) gave the Nottingham Northstars (7-2) a run for their money this Saturday in the first round of the 2013 NJSIAA Central Group 4 playoffs. Lions Freshmen quarterback Donald Glenn threw four touchdown passed in the loss two to senior wideout Jake Betkowski and two to Junior Troy Thompson. Sophomore running back Chad Freshnock also contributed with a 4-yard touchdown run early in the game but left later due to injury. The Lions failed to convert a 2-point conversion in the fourth quarter that would have tied the game. Nottingham held them for the rest of the quarter to win 35-33 and defeat North in their first playoff appearance since 2009.
The Lions will take on Middletown South (4-5) in the annual Thanksgiving game next Thursday as Middletown South will host the game this year seeking their 13th straight victory over North. On the other hand Middletown North will be looking to snap a 12 game losing streak to the Eagles. The game will be held on thanksgiving day and kickoff will start at 10:30 at Middletown South High School.
