At 7:59 pm on Tuesday October, 29, the lights went down in Madison Square Garden and Ed Sheeran took the stage.
He had a surprise opening act for such a special venue- Snow Patrol. They sang a few of their hit songs including “Open Your Eyes” and “Chasing Cars”.
After they performed, Ed sang his heart out for almost three hours straight. At one point, he got everyone to be completely silent and he sang to the entire arena without a microphone. Even the nosebleeds heard him! Sheeran surprised everyone and premiered a new song from his upcoming album. The crowd went crazy, and by the end everyone was singing along.
At the end of an encore consisting of “You Need Me, I Don’t Need You” and an old Irish folk song, Sheeran closed the show with “A Team” and the crowd sang every word.
When asked their favorite Ed Sheeran song, North students replied with “Drunk” and “Give Me Love”. They were also asked what their favorite thing about Ed is. “His red hair!”, one replied. “He is the epitome of someone who started from the bottom and made it big. That did change him, though, he’s still Ed. I don’t think he takes life too seriously. He just smiles and rolls with it. That’s why I love him,” says another.
There was a lot of love in Madison Square Garden, and it seems that the Lions at North love him just as much.
