The MLB playoffs are in full swing, weeding out teams competing for the wild card and teams who lost in the NLDS/ALDS over the last two weeks. In this NLDS/ALDS title race there are eight teams, Red Sox, Cardinals, Dodgers, Tigers, Pirates, Athletics, Rays, and Braves. Currently, the MLB teams who are competing for the NLCS/ALCS titles are the Cardinals, Dodgers, Red Sox, and Tigers. To recap the past NLDS/ALDS series, each bracket between the American and National league there are four teams each, or eight overall.
The ball clubs left to compete in the five game elimination series’s (the NLDS and ALDS) were the Cardinals against the Pirates and the Dodgers against the Braves for the NLDS. For the ALDS series it was the Athletics against the Tigers and the Rays against the Boston Red Sox.
Tampa Bay was rolled over, leaving the Sox to win the first two games and later on, the series in four games. The Red Sox and now in contention for the ALCS title against the Tigers and the series is 2-1 with Boston in the advantage.
In a nail-biter last week, the St.Louis Cardinals won their NLDS series against the Pirates three games to two. Although down two games to one early in the series, the Cardinals came back to win the next two meetings with the Buccos, taking one of the two NLDS titles. The Cardinals are in contention of the NLCS , leading the series against the Dodgers three games to two.
In a five game set, the Detroit Tigers beat out the Oakland Athletics for one of the ALDS titles.
In four games, with a large score margin for the playoffs of 26-13 advantage Dodgers, LA took the series in four games to knock off the Braves.
With the world series approaching within the next week, the winners of the ALCS and NLCS will duel for ultimate baseball glory in another epic best of seven set.
