Rachel’s Challenge is a widely known organization that travels from school to school in communities across the country spreading Rachel Joy Scott’s message of kindness and paying it forward.
Rachel was the first victim of the Columbine Shooting in 1999. Shortly before she died, she wrote a thesis on what she would do if she could make the world a better place.
Mrs. Smith’s Civic Leadership classes raised $3,600 for Rachel’s Challenge to come to our community. The 50 civic leaders volunteered their time at back to school night, Middletown Day, and at a car wash on Sunday. They’ve also been seen around school getting people to sign slips of paper. These will be made into a chain and will hang in the auditorium during the program.
After raising enough money, Rachel’s Challenge will be visiting High School North in mid-October for two grade level assemblies and a community event after school on October 10th.
In order for this challenge to work at North, the students (and staff) must be open-minded and willing to make a change for the better. Start a chain reaction, make a difference, accept Rachel’s Challenge.
