Thursday night from 6:30-9:00 was Back to School Night for the parents of Middletown High School North.
Starting at 7:00, parents participating at Back to School Night went to their child’s first block A Day class. Each class period lasted about fifteen minutes as each teacher explained their syllabus and what their class expectations are for students throughout the year. After the parents went through their child’s A
Day schedule, they would pick up on the B Day schedule.
Parents would have five minutes to get to each class, and at the very end parents were free to either go home or go to the library and purchase North apparel or donate money as they pleased. Many clubs were represented at Back to School Night, including Civic Leadership, Student Government, and Drama.
Civic leaders were in charge of directing parents to classrooms if they were lost, as well as handing out maps to parents who just walked in to the building.
For any parents whose child was not a senior they were told to report at seven o’clock, senior parents were to arrive at 6:30 for an assembly on the common application process for college.
The Guidance Department ran the assembly , showing parents how to access Naviance.com and how to navigate the website. It is the Guidance Department’s mission statement for both parents and students to have a solid understanding of Naviance.
Overall Back to School Night showed parents how their students’ navigate the school with ease, and many clubs who were engaged with fundraising were aided by many parents through generous donations.
