This year, North has switched from its old food to a brand new company, Aramark, surprising students used to the old.
Hard hitting news? Maybe not. Important? Definitely.
The Lion’s Roar caught up with students to gauge their opinion on this new food, which includes the opportunity for customers to build their own sandwich. “It’s good to be able to pick and choose what you want on your sandwich,” says one senior. “It’s better if you want to stick to a healthier choice one day or maybe add some extra things another day. It really keeps us able to be conscious of what we’re eating.”
The Lion’s Roar asked a number of students what they thought of the new company and found it was met with a great reception.
“The cookies are all around better,” says another student. “It’s can be expensive, but worth it. Although I’m not crazy about the pizza.”
In any case, the new school lunch and the make-your-own-sandwich opportunity also allows students to be preparing for college in some aspects. It allows them to begin to make their own decisions about what’s healthy and what’s not without supervision from the school or their parents which is inevitably what they’ll be doing in college.
Nevertheless, students seem to be taking well to this new change and hopefully they’ll be preparing themselves for the future, even at lunch.
