On Sunday September 8th, sophomore Cameron Dundas won a YuGiOh Playing Card tournament at Hobbymasters in Red Bank. Dundas received a $30 gift card to the store for his tournament win.
The deck Dundas used was his Evilswarm deck. The Evilswarm deck is one of the top tier decks in YuGiOh right now. Dundas’ deck consists of forty cards in his main deck, fifteen in his side deck, and another fifteen in his extra deck.
In the final duel Dundas played against the deck Tele-Dad. The opponent was 2-0 entering the match against Dundas. However, in the finals Dundas decimated his opponent and won in two straight rounds.
The cards that sealed Dundas’ victory were Evilswarm Ophion and Evilswarm Kerykeion. These two cards were constantly on the field for Dundas and were crucial for his victory. With the prize money Dundas bought more YuGiOh packs to increase his collection.
YuGiOh is a simple card game that has re-escalated in popularity recently. The card game is made up of monster, trap, and spell cards that players assemble into a deck and duel each other with. A “duel” is a best-two-out-of-three rounds where players start with 8000 life points and the first person to get their opponent down to zero wins the round. If a duelist wins two rounds, they win the duel.
If you want to learn more about YuGiOh come to Hobbymasters every Friday night between 4-8. People are always there willing to help newcomers with YuGiOh.
