AP Science students have been debating over the new requirement to give up the first half of their lunch periods on A Days to make up for time lost due to blocked scheduling.
The topic has differing opinions as the Lion’s Roar found when interviewing different students.
“I don’t think it’s too helpful because most of us are too excited for lunch to actually get things done,” says one AP Science student who wishes to remain nameless. “We do a lot of practice problems but we talk a lot about other things too. Sometimes it seems like a waste.” He’d rather it didn’t exist, but understands that it is a “necessary evil.”
On the other side of things, another student said, “It helps a lot because last year we seemed to lose a lot of time and had to either rush through labs or do the majority of the work at home.” This student, who also wished to remain anonymous, said, “I don’t mind missing part of my lunch because it doesn’t interfere with other things that happen after school.”
It seems that the AP Science student body is split over the subject but nevertheless, the first half of transition periods will continue to be held by AP Sciences.
