North 3, Brick Memorial 29
The Lions (0-1) suffered their first loss of the season last Friday night at Brick Memorial high school.
North took a 3-0 lead in the first quarter on a 24-yard field goal by Nick Banta.
But it was all Mustangs (1-1) from there as they went on to score 29 unanswered points. Four different Mustangs each scored a touchdown en route to their first victory of the season.
Coach Stephen Bush suffered his first loss as Middletown North head coach. Coaching in his first game the offense really struggled to get the ball into the end zone as they were only able to put 3 points on the board. The Lions did not score a touchdown in season opening loss.
The Lions will face the No.2 Manalapan Braves (1-0) this upcoming week in a divisional matchup at Manalapan high school. The Braves are coming off a big 49-0 victory over Freehold Township. The Braves will be led by senior tailback Tyler Leonetti and Rutgers recruit Saeed Blacknall, both coming off huge games in their season opener.
