In August, driving juniors and seniors found out that parking would be random this year as apposed to assigned spots. Opinions varied about the random assignments.
Some felt that this would get students to school on time and give everyone a fair shot at a good parking space. Others thought it would be dangerous and stressful.
No matter their view on this issue, though, everyone has considered these question at least once: Is my car safe? Will someone hit me? Are these spots big enough?
For newly licensed students, squeezing between two cars can be challenging and stressful. Drivers need to keep in mind that the spots are small and be patient with each other. Everyone is in the same boat.
Drivers also pull out of spaces very quickly. This is dangerous to pedestrians and other cars. In previous years, there have been fender benders and door marks.
As students cannot change anything about the layout of the parking lots, there are some things that the student body can do to eliminate stress and be safe.
Driving to school is a privilege and students (as well as teachers) need to be careful and patient with each other and respectful of other people and their cars.
