With the lack of reliable laptops in school, Middletown North decided to update the technological aspect with the addition of new Chromebooks.
The brand new laptops were originally introduced last year in several History and English classes. Used as small trial runs, these classes tested the computers for the real experience that was coming this year.
Every History and English classroom has a cart full of Chromebooks this year for all of the students at Middletown North to enjoy.
As soon as it is turned on and the student logs on, the computer allows the user to choose from several different options. The Google Chrome and GoogleDoc buttons are two examples of how quickly one can navigate these computers.
Senior student Jordan Conway had much to say about this big addition to her high school.
“I think the Chromebooks are absolutely fabulous. They are really easy to use and a lot better than the Dell laptops that we had in previous years. They do feel a little flimsy though. They are so skinny I’m afraid I’m going to break it in half.”
Other students agreed with Conway. “They’re really useful in school and super fast,” said Andrew Tachine. “I feel like they’re really helpful when you need to get assignments done fast.”
Many students agreed with these statements when asked whether or not they liked the Chromebooks. Most students said that there was only one down side. “You can only go on Google Chrome and GoogleDocs. There’s no Microsoft Word or any of those programs built onto these computers,” said Patrick Pfleger.
It seems as though the new Chromebooks are going to be a very interesting and helpful addition to Middletown North. With the school year just starting, who knows what type of possibilities these new laptops are going to offer North’s classrooms.
