Middletown High School North has had a rich history since its establishment in 1919.It was not until 1970, however, that North’s history became lost in the fray.

In a recent endeavor into the safe, I was given the chance to wipe the dust from various awards and honors from philanthropic works to football championships. As I waded through the various plaques, I came across an award given to Key Club. The peculiar aspect of this bell is the lack of year or date, a discovery that leads me to infer that it was received around the same time as the Key Club International Placard in 1998.

As we jump 18 years, Key Club was awarded somewhere around six honors in the years of 1998 and 1999 for esteemed public service and community enhancement projects. Upon further research, public records does not show the date the bell was awarded to MHSN Key Club; a large oversight that is unfortunate, however, it leaves something to be wondered.

In the coming weeks, I will continue to dredge through North’s forgotten history and hope to make truly unfounded discoveries.
