Upon watching Seussical the Musical, there was one performance which truly stood out; Sean O’Malley’s part as lieutenant shined through. We went behind the scenes to ask Sean some of the hard hitting questions.
Are you nervous before you go on stage?
Yes, I’m very nervous especially the first performance no matter how many times you practice.
How do you feel about the North drama program?
North drama is great, I started in junior year, but it’s very demanding and requires a lot of commitment.
What process do you go through to prepare for your role?
You receive a little packet before auditions. You have to work with the character and do a lot of experimentation.
How do you feel about Seussical the Musical?
The cast was great. The play itself was for kids but adults could enjoy it as well. The songs were very catchy.
Did you receive any formal training in acting?
I never had acting classes but some of the other people in the cast did.
Have you received any recognition for your achievements?
People point out to me in the halls and say they saw the play
Do you plan to continue drama after high school?
I plan to focus on my studies and drama is a big commitment. I’m going to Rowan for biology.
